Recurrent Events: ‘Friends’ Reunion Special, KFC Pizza, Goonies Monopoly

The big story this week is the apparent Friends reunion special happening at HBO Max. According to Deadline, a deal is close to being done to reunite the cast for a one-off, unscripted special that would help kick off the new streaming service in May 2020. The special will come at a cost of a rumored $18-$24 million, just to bring the actors together. There is nothing official yet, but a recent tweet by Matthew Perry seems to indicate it will happen.  While we mention on the podcast that would love to see something scripted like a Christmas special or really anything, the reunion seems like a necessary ploy to attract subscribers since the crown jewel of HBO Max is the entire series of Friends.

Here are the rest of the Recurrent Events headlines for the week of Feb 2 – Feb 8, 2020. (Stories marked with *** are discussed on TRN Podcast this week.)
