In 1982, the Topps Company produced E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial trading cards as a companion to the feature film. Officially licensed by Universal Studios, the E.T. card set includes 87 total cards and 12 stickers featuring scenes from the movie, the film’s poster, and a few behind-the-scenes shots. Each wax pack contained 10 cards, 1 sticker, and a piece of bubble gum.
In conjunction with Topps, the Canadian company O-Pee-Chee also released E.T. tradings cards in 1982. The set was nearly identical except the text descriptions featured both English and French languages.
Each trading card feature a starry, bright blue border with the iconic logo of the bicycle flying across the moon. The back of the cards told the story of the film and what to expect on the next card in the set.
Nine of the stickers in the set featured a puzzle on the back which when put together displayed the heartfelt scene of Gertie kissing E.T. goodbye.
