The House Show 001 – In Your House #1

The best professional wrestling gimmicks are an extension of who the performer is in real life. Now the best professional wrestling podcast is an extension of real life.

Stuck at home thanks to the Coronavirus, three longtime friends and even longer time wrestling fans wanted to get together and discuss sports entertainment. How can we do so when we’re all at our apartments, our homes, in our house?

Presenting The House Show. A 90’s Wrestling Podcast. Join The Retro Network’s two time champion “the Masked Library” Kevin Decent (@MaskedLibrary) with his two best friends: “Sweet” Matty Treats (@MattyTreats), and “the Educator of Excellence”. (Who also refuses to do social media. He’s old school like that.) The three of us are going to make a main event star out of this time. Thanks to the WWE Network we will be rewatching the entire In Your House series of pay per views. Starting with the first one from right here… in Syracuse, New York!

Kevin has been blogging about wrestling for over 12 years and along the way interviewed wrestlers, announcers, and bookers to pick their brains. Matt and Kevin had a wrestling podcast ten years ago and for twenty years Matt has traveled across the country to attend events. You wonder who buys tickets for every show WrestleMania weekend? This is the guy. The Educator (and we break kayfabe sometimes, his name is also Matt) is a walking encyclopedia of wrestling knowledge. Undefeated at the wrestling name game, and he can list all of their title wins as well.

In this first show we talk about the debut WWF In Your House event. The WWF experimented with shorter and cheaper pay per views to take place in the months between the Big Four shows. This is the first and so far only PPV to take place in Syracuse, NY. Treats and the Educator were there live and have stories of the dark matches and flow of the show.

As The House Show continues we will go through every In Your House PPV. It was an amazing time for wrestling and we will be discussing wrestlers like Diesel, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Savio Vega (no, really) and so much more.
