The weekly Recurrent Events features the latest retro pop culture headlines right here each on The Retro Network. Listen to Jason and Mickey go in depth on select stories in the upcoming TRN Podcast this Tuesday. Movies, TV, Food, Video Games, Music, Toys…we’ve got you covered on all the nostalgic stuff that matters to you.
The big story this week is the first look at the new Batmobile from the upcoming The Batman movie. Mickey and I both thought it looked great, going back to the roots of the car’s history. In fact, it’s a little weird to think of the Batmobile as a car again with the last two cinematic versions being more tank-like than anything. I can’t say there is one incarnation that I don’t like but my favorites will always be the more sleek cars from 1989 movie and the 1966 series. If the new film takes place early in Batman’s career of crime-fighting, it seems more logical that his car would be something modified from an actual car. The new Batmobile seems to capture that with it’s muscle car type body and obviously enhanced technology. Personally, I wouldn’t care if he just drove a motorcycle in the film, I’m still planning to be there opening night.
