Recurrent Events is taking yet another week off from TRN Podcast as we prepare for the holidays. However, make sure you listen this week’s episode as we’ll have a special Christmas message immediately followed by our Outtakes and Stories 002 episode (originally released as a Patreon exclusive.)
The big story this week is a second Masters of the Universe animated series is coming to Netflix! According to Deadline, Netflix and Mattel Television are working together on what sounds like a straight-up CG animated reboot from the logline: “On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?” Along with Kevin Smith’s new anime series, a feature film, comic series, and toys, it sounds like Masters of the Universe will be returning in full force over the next couple years.
Here are the rest of the Recurrent Events headlines for the week of Dec 15-21, 2019.
STREAMING/TV
- Legends of the Hidden Temple: Nickelodeon Series Finds New Life at Quibi – Oh wow. Game changer for me on potential subscribing to Quibi. I like that they are making this a “grown-up” version instead of just rebooting the show from the ’90s.
- Lucasfilm Developing a WILLOW TV Series – It’s been years since I watched the film, but in the era of Game of Thrones and a new Lord of the Rings on Amazon, this fantasy world could work as a Disney+ series (I assume.)
- Classic ’80s film Turner & Hooch is getting remade as a Disney+ series – Interesting. I remember frequently renting the movie in the early ’90s and watching many times on cable. I think Disney+ is the perfect place to host a series with a dog co-star.
- MeTV Will Add The Waltons, Adam-12, & Dragnet in January – As a cord cutter, I’m so glad we get MeTV over the air locally.
- Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan Was the Savior of the WWE – We Just Never Listened
- Carrie TV Series Reportedly in Development at FX
FOOD
- Girl Scout Cookie-Flavored Coffees Returning to Dunkin’ in January 2020 – I’ll be seeking these out.
- New Jolly Rancher Cereal Arrives at Walmart First – Could be very good, could be very bad.
- Arby’s Tests Mac-and-Cheese-Topped Brisket Sandwich – A pass for me. Sounds more like a KFC invention.

- Bill & Ted Face the Music Photos Reunite Duo (& Their Daughters) – B&T hasn’t been a franchise I’ve reconnected with over the years, but from the pictures it looks like fans should have fun with it.
