Recurrent Events: Quantum Leap May Return, Super Nintendo World, Rock Hall Inductees

Recurrent Events returns to give you the scoop on all the retro pop culture headlines from last week. Our Recurrent Events segment on this week’s podcast features some talk about the new Peacock app from NBC which will be available this Spring. Look for a feature story coming soon on the website with all of the retro content planned for the streaming service like new Saved By the Bell and Punky Brewster shows.

And speaking of Peacock, the big story this week is the potential return of one my favorite NBC shows. According to /Film, NBC is looking into reviving Quantum Leap to go with the other retro-centric shows already in its lineup. There is no word yet if this new series would somehow continue the story or just reboot the series. Either way, I’m very excited at the possibility of its return. While discussing on the podcast, I reveal that I probably learned more history watching the 1989-93 series than in school. It led to a wonderful discussion with Mickey about what other TV shows could fit that mold. Square One TV for math, Bill Nye for science, etc. I think it’s enough of an idea for a future article right here on The Retro Network.

Here are the rest of the Recurrent Events headlines for the week of Jan 12 – 18, 2020. (Stories marked with *** are discussed on TRN Podcast this week.)
