Warner Bros. Is Planning a Speedy Gonzales Solo Movie

Speedy Gonzales

Warner Bros. is developing a standalone Speedy Gonzales movie, giving the classic Looney Tunes character his first feature spotlight. According to reporting from The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Jorge R. Gutiérrez is leading the project and previously hinted that work had already begun. No writer is attached yet, and the studio has not revealed any plot details.

Speedy Gonzales first appeared in the 1950s and has remained a fan favorite, especially within the Latin American community. He has shown up in video games, commercials, and most recently in Space Jam: A New Legacy. Warner Bros. has attempted to launch a Speedy film several times since 2010, but earlier efforts stalled over concerns about how the character might be received.

With recent Looney Tunes projects bringing characters like Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Wile E. Coyote back into the spotlight, the studio appears ready to give Speedy his turn. Gutiérrez has expressed excitement about shaping the film and celebrating the character’s legacy.
