A cult favorite from the late 1980s is officially heading back to store shelves. Super7 has announced the return of Visionaries, marking the first new release for the franchise in almost forty years.
Originally introduced by Hasbro in 1987, Visionaries combined traditional action figures with holographic technology, a feature that became the hallmark of the brand. The storyline centered on the heroic Spectral Knights and the villainous Darkling Lords, two factions battling for control of the planet Prysmos. The property expanded into an animated television series and a comic book line before being discontinued in 1988.
Following an early preview at New York Toy Fair, Super7 has now revealed the first two figures in its Visionaries ReAction+ line. The initial wave includes Leoric and Darkstorm, each standing four inches tall and built with classic O‑ring construction. The figures feature twelve points of articulation and accessories modeled after the original releases.
Both characters come equipped with removable helmets, backpacks, and staffs featuring holographic stickers that display their Mystical Personalities. Packaging will mirror the vintage aesthetic, with retro‑style blister cards and artwork inspired by the original Visionaries line.
Pre‑orders for the first wave are now open through the Super7 website and participating retailers. Individual figures are priced at 25 dollars, with a two‑figure bundle available for 50 dollars. Shipping is scheduled to begin in August.
