AMC has unveiled its full FearFest schedule, and this year’s event leans hard into retro horror nostalgia. The network confirmed that the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt will host the 30th anniversary celebration, marking the first new on‑air segments featuring the character in decades.
Special effects legend Greg Nicotero rebuilt and refreshed the classic puppet for the event, directing brand new host segments with John Kassir returning to provide the iconic voice and cackle. Nicotero called the experience a privilege and a trip back in time as he recreated Kevin Yagher’s original design at KNB EFX.
FearFest kicks off October 1 on AMC and AMC+, delivering more than 650 hours of horror programming. The lineup is packed with nostalgic favorites including Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Final Destination, Insidious, and a wide selection from the Stephen King library such as Christine, Misery, IT, and The Shining.
Fans can also expect marathons of Tales from the Crypt, creature features like The Fly and Lake Placid, cult classics such as Tremors and The Lost Boys, and themed blocks celebrating retro horror eras. AMC says the Crypt Keeper will serve as a wickedly fun gateway into the network’s massive horror library throughout the month.
For viewers who grew up watching these films on cable, FearFest’s retro‑heavy lineup offers a nostalgic return to the days of flipping to one channel and letting the scares roll.
