McDonald’s Is Launching a New Adult Meal Featuring the Legendary Characters From the Past

McDonald’s is bringing back nostalgic characters to launch a new adult Happy Meal, which will include a new limited-edition shake.

Ronald McDonald, Birdie, Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, Fry Friends and Grimace, whose birthday meal went viral after its release in June 2023, have reunited for the McDonaldland Meal.

The meal will launch on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, the company announced in a release.

It comes with the choice of a Quarter Pounder with cheese or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, fries and the new Mt. McDonaldland Shake.

The flavor of the shake wasn’t revealed in the release, but the company said it is “inspired by the vibrant blue ‘lava’ and pink clouds of Mt. McDonaldland,” the volcano in the company’s fictional world.

Each meal will also include one of six collectible tins that feature postcards, stickers and more inspired by characters.

In addition to launching the meal, McDonald’s is also releasing limited-edition merchandise in collaboration with PacSun on Aug. 12 and with Away on Aug. 18.

This is the company’s latest marketing push to boost sales, and follows the recent return of the SnackWrap and the special Minecraft meal.

“Over the past few years we’ve seen how fans flock to our characters, everyone from Grimace to the Hamburglar. But many, especially the new generation, don’t know that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s an entire magical world of McDonaldland filled with characters, places and lore,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP, U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture. “And so, for the first time in decades we are taking fans on a trip to McDonaldland with an immersive experience that taps into the past to create the future. It’s a chance for us to give fans a new, modern way to experience this magical world.”
