Blockbuster Nostalgia Gets a DIY Boost with New VHS and DVD Sleeve Generator

A fresh wave of ’80s–’90s nostalgia is making the rounds thanks to a new Blockbuster Sleeve Generator that lets fans create and print their own VHS or DVD style inserts. The tool taps into the iconic look of the video-rental era…right down to the familiar blue-and-yellow branding and store‑specific labels.

Created by Tex Jernigan, the generator automatically fills in movie details using the TMDB API and even allows users to select their old hometown Blockbuster location from a massive scraped database of former stores. The result is a printable, ready-to-fold VHS sleeve that feels pulled straight off the shelves of 1994.

With only one Blockbuster store still operating in Bend, Oregon, tools like this keep the spirit of Friday‑night rentals alive…no membership card required.

You can find the tool here to start creating your own covers.
