CBS All Access is not the newest streaming service available but is it one of the best I’ve found so far, and I’m about to enlighten you as to why.  Now, we all know the deal with streaming services and what they are.  You can pick and choose what you want to watch when you want to watch it.  It’s one of the greatest innovations in the last twenty years.  So much so, I became a cord cutter four years ago and am no longer a slave to the traditional television and movie model.

But with so many streaming service options out there right now, we all have to carefully pick and choose what we spend our hard-earned money on.  So why should someone consider spending that money on CBS All Access?  Well for starters, you get access to live CBS programming.  With just the click of a button, you can watch live.  For cord-cutters that is a huge bonus to the service as you can watch the new episodes of your favorite shows as they happen.  Not to mention the live sporting events they air as well as special programming like The Grammy’s and other award shows.  You also get access to more live programming than just the main CBS channel.  They also offer live viewing of CBSN which is their news channel, ET Live, and CBS Sports HQ, which is a continuous sports highlight channel much like ESPN News used to be.

If you choose not to watch the shows live when they air, all episodes are available on-demand starting the day after they air live.  That is really convenient in our house, as we use Sunday nights to catch up on all the shows we missed during the week, and we’re still caught up each week.

I think we’re each individually aware of all the great current programming that CBS offers, but since here at TRN we’re retro-minded, we like to watch old classics that we fondly remember.  So what does CBS All Access offer to folks like us?  Well, plenty actually.  They have a good mix of classic shows from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s to keep you entertained.  Here is a list of some old favorites that are currently available on the service:

That’s quite a few choices for us folks who are stuck in the past.  And I like the fact that it covers quite a few eras.  Do you wanna go back to the early days of television and watch some of the pioneering shows?  CBS All Access has you covered.  Are you more into some ’70s action?  They’ve got that too.  And then if you’re like me, sometimes you’re looking for something from the ’80s to take you back to childhood.  They’ve got plenty of that.  And maybe one of the great eras of television, the early ’90s, are also represented with some of the most fondly remembered shows from that time period.

CBS All Access is also the home of all things Star Trek.  Not only do they have the exclusive series’ Discovery and Picard, they also have ALL of the Star Trek series for your binge-watching needs.  You can catch up on, rewatch, or view for the first time these classic series’:

While we’re kind of on the subject of animation and cartoons, I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention some of the classic cartoons that are available on the service.  Now it’s not a murderers row of big-time hits from the past, but they do offer a nice little selection that you may want to revisit or introduce your kids too.  It’s a good enough lineup that you can yourself a big bowl of cereal and settle in on the couch on Saturday morning and relive the fun times of your youth.  Check them out:
