By the time the mid 90’s hit, I was married, having kids, adulting fairly hard and not really making many mix tapes. Even though cassettes were still around, CD’s were quickly becoming the preferred source of music and compilation tapes were more common than mix tapes (yes, there’s a difference). In building this playlist, it was interesting to here the contrast between the 80’s and 90’s music. When you listened to the music year in and year out, the change was gradual (like the “frog in boiling water” analogy) but when you listen to the decades separately, it’s very noticeable.
