Prime Video is officially bringing RoboCop back to the screen. Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Atomic Monster have confirmed an eight‑episode series based on the classic sci‑fi franchise, with original co‑creators Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner returning as executive producers. Peter Ocko, known for Lodge 49 and Pushing Daisies, will serve as showrunner and writer, while James Wan joins the project as an executive producer.
The new series follows a tech conglomerate that convinces a city to adopt a robot police officer implanted with the consciousness of a fallen hero. Producers say the show will lean into the original film’s themes of corporate power, technological danger, and the blurred line between man and machine. Early reports suggest the story will center on a soldier‑turned‑cyborg named Mark Kyle, with Wan directing key episodes. Filming is expected to begin in 2027.
RoboCop first debuted in 1987 and quickly became a landmark blend of action and satire, spawning toys, sequels, animated shows, comics, video games, and a 2014 remake. Several reboot attempts have surfaced over the years, including Neill Blomkamp’s abandoned RoboCop Returns project. Prime Video has not announced a release date for the new series.
