Ecto-1 and KITT Coming To Rocket League During ‘Radical Summer’ Event

Rocket League is going totally ’80s this summer and featuring two new iconic cars from the decade. Kicking off June 10, the “Radical Summer” in-game event will have players earning cassettes to unlock ’80s-themed items over the course of 9 weeks. And while I have my eyes on the cassette spoke wheels and Speak ‘N Spell topper, officially licensed items from franchises like Back to the Future, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies, Karate Kid, DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender and WWE (or WWF as we remember) will be the big draw for ’80s fans.

The biggest among those licensed items will definitely be car packs which will include Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters and KITT from Knight Rider! Check out these cars in action by watching the “Radical Summer trailer” featuring “Playing with the Boys” by Kenny Loggins from the Top Gun soundtrack…

Yes!!! Stay Puft goal explosion!!! Also available in the The Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Car Pack for $1.99 will be Ecto-1 Wheels, Proton Pack Rocket Boost, Slimer Topper, and a Ghostbusters Player Banner and Avatar Border. During the ’80s Blockbusters 3-week period from June 10 – July 1, you’ll be able to play Ghost Hunt Mode which 3v3 teams will use proton stream power-ups to trap the ghostly ball in their opponents’ containment zone.

’80s Culture will reign from July 1 – July 22 and then ’80s Television from July 22 – August 12 will have the new Knight Rider Car Pack with details yet to come. From the trailer, you can see other great accessories like the E.T. moon wheels, an Ultimate Warrior decal, and Karate Kid bandanna topper. I can’t wait to start collecting!

If you haven’t yet immersed yourself in the world of car soccer that is Rocket League, snag it now for Xbox One, PS4, and on Steam for PC. Other pop culture cars previously released for the video game include the Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine, Jurassic Park Jeep, and the 1989 and Batman vs. Superman Batmobiles.
